The V5 RNR is Nike’s answer to the early-2000s running craze: a silhouette that brings back Y2K language —thick but lightweight midsole, synthetic layers over mesh, pronounced grooves in the outsole— and tops it off with a three-dimensional Swoosh applied in relief over the side panel, a detail that does not exist on the original archival silhouettes. It is a new sneaker built with old-school grammar.
The silhouette is wide at the base and narrow at the toe, with mesh dominating the upper and synthetic leather overlays defining the profile. Black Anthracite works with two blacks: solid black on the panels and anthracite, a very dark gray, on the mesh and details, with the raised Swoosh catching the light through its difference in texture rather than color.
