The Gel-NYC was born in spring 2023 with a clear premise: to rebuild elements from ASICS' archive with a contemporary take. It debuted in January 2023 as a collaboration with Awake NY, Angelo Baque's brand, and received a general release in March. The recipe combines the outsole pattern of the Gel-Cumulus 16, an upper based on the early-2000s Gel-Nimbus 3, and the colors and materials of the 2001 Gel-MC Plus V. Within a few months, it became the company's second-best-selling model overall.
The silhouette retains the volume of early-century running shoes: technical mesh covered with synthetic and suede overlays, midfoot reinforcement, and a tall, clearly segmented midsole. The Pink Glo Concrete starts with a concrete-gray base and reserves Pink Glo pink for the accents and branding details: a vivid touch of color against a deliberately neutral background.
